The leader of Türkiye’s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) expressed his support for a two-state resolution on the 1967 borders in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“Taking 1967 as the basis, it is necessary to ensure the establishment of a Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, leading to a two-state structure for the community there. This is Türkiye’s perspective. This is its determination,” Devlet Bahçeli said in a press conference held in the capital Ankara.
In its statement, Bahçeli pointed out Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, saying: “Israel needs to come to its senses and not rely on America. It should find a way to overcome these difficulties by coming together around Türkiye.”
Israel has halted the water flow to the Gaza Strip, disconnecting all water supply pipelines from Israel. Prior to this action, Gaza had also experienced full disruptions in its electricity and fuel supplies.
“There is no water, no electricity in Gaza,” Bahçeli stated regarding the worsening situation in the region. “The world is content with merely watching these events.”
Bahçeli emphasized that Türkiye is acting with a sense of historical awareness, highlighting that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is strongly addressing the issue.
The MHP leader also said that Ankara is working diligently to achieve a ceasefire and establish peace and tranquility as soon as possible.
The need is to first prevent the destruction in Gaza, he added.
