Main opposition CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu officially declared the candidacy of the incumbent Ankara Mayor, Mansur Yavaş, for the upcoming municipal elections.

The elections are scheduled to take place on March 31, 2024.

In response to questions, Kılıçdaroğlu stated, “Mansur Yavaş is our mayor and candidate.”

Yavaş said last month that he wants to continue being “everyone’s mayor.”

“If you choose to support us, I am eager to participate in the elections and, hopefully, serve for another 5 years,” he said.

Other opposition Good (Iyi) Party supported Yavaş in Ankara in the 2019 mayoral elections.

However, the party’s leader Meral Akşener said they would nominate their own candidates in all cities, including Istanbul and Ankara.
