Turkey 'neutralizes' two terrorists in northern Iraq

At least two terrorists were “neutralized” in northern Iraq, Turkish security sources said on Monday.

THEY USE THE WORD ‘NEUTRALIZED’

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized” in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

The counter-terrorism operation was conducted in the Hakurk region, said the sources on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Two Kalashnikov rifles, two hand grenades and nine improvised explosives were among the cache of arms and ammunition seized during the operation, the sources added.

PKK LISTED AS A TERRORIST GROUP

Turkish military’s operations in this area generally target the PKK terror group. In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.
