Turkish seismic vessel to continue exploration for 10 days

Turkey issued a new navigational telex or Navtex late Sunday for the area where its Oruç Reis seismic vessel will conduct research activities until Oct. 22.

According to the announcement, the vessel’s mission will last from Oct. 12 to Oct. 22. A Navtex is a maritime communications system that allows ships to inform other vessels about their presence in an area as well as other information.

Oruç Reis returned to the Turkish port of Antalya in mid-September WATCH

The Oruç Reis will carry out seismic studies in the Eastern Mediterranean together with two other vessels, the Ataman and Cengiz Han.

In August, Turkey resumed energy exploration in the Eastern Mediterranean after Greece and Egypt signed a controversial maritime delimitation deal, spurning Turkey’s goodwill gesture in halting its search.
