On Wednesday, shareholders from both Türkiye and Arab nations within the health tourism sector are convening in Istanbul for a two-day industry exhibition.
Türkiye has been establishing itself as a model for other countries, having hosted 1.2 million tourists in 2022 who sought healthcare services.
The inaugural Expo Health Tourism event in the metropolis, arranged by the Turkish-Arab Countries Business Association (TURAB), aims to enhance international collaboration within the industry and enhance Türkiye’s sector infrastructure.
TURAB’s chairman, Sabuhi Attar, emphasized the need for increased cooperation between Türkiye and Arab nations.
‘Türkiye is a leading nation’
He highlighted the significance of the health sector as a focal point for cooperation, emphasizing Türkiye’s prominent position as a “leading nation” within this industry.
Attar pointed out that 1.2 million tourists received healthcare services in Türkiye last year and added that this figure is expected to reach 1.8 million in 2023.
Ahmed ElSobky, Egypt’s deputy minister of health and population, underscored the historical relations between Türkiye and Arab countries.
He stated that Türkiye holds a notable position in the health sector and stands as a role model for Arab nations.
A pivotal ‘hub’ in health tourism
Meanwhile, Türkiye’s Health Minister said the country is progressing towards becoming a pivotal “hub” in the health tourism domain.
Fahrettin Koca further added, “As health tourism gains momentum, we are advancing towards securing the 3rd spot. Through our ‘Health Türkiye’ brand, our goal is to ensure Türkiye’s significant presence in this field.”
