Number of tourists visiting Antalya exceeds 14.5 million

Russia is the first country in the rankings for sending the most tourists to Antalya

More than 14.5 million tourists visited the Turkish resort city as of Oct 24, 2023, according to the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association (AKTOB).

The head of the body, Kaan Kavaloğlu, said, “The number of tourists visiting Antalya has exceeded 14.5 million. There is a slight slowdown in reservations due to tension.”

Providing information about tourism activity in the world and Türkiye, Kavaloğlu stated that the country hosted over 33 million people between January and August, with Istanbul ranking first and Antalya second in terms of the number of visitors.

Kavaloğlu also mentioned that the average length of stay in Istanbul is around two nights, while in Antalya, it is over 8 nights, saying: “In fact, the early bookings for 2024 started quickly in the UK and Germany, but they have slowed down a bit for now. We are accustomed to living with crises in this region.”

The tourism sector in Türkiye has the resilience to overcome the obstacles, he added. “In the same period of 2022, Antalya hosted 11 million people, and we are going at almost the same level compared to the record year 2019.”

Russia is the first country in the rankings for sending the most tourists to Antalya, followed by Germany in second place, and the United Kingdom in third place.
