Switzerland said it supports the efforts made by Türkiye and the United Nations (UN) for the renewal of the Black Sea Grain Corridor Agreement.

The statement comes after Russia announced that it halted the deal because Moscow’s demands as part of the agreement are not fulfilled.

Russia says it cannot export its own products, especially grain and fertilizer to global markets.

“Switzerland regrets Russia’s decision and hopes it will be renewed in the near future to ensure global food security,” said the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We welcome and support the tireless effort of Türkiye and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on this issue,” it added.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia will return to implementing the deal as soon as the Russian part of the deal is met.

Türkiye, internationally praised for its unique mediator role between Ukraine and Russia, has repeatedly called on Kyiv and Moscow to end the war through negotiations.
