Thousands protest Lebanese gov’t after deadly explosion

Clashes erupt as thousands of people protest against Lebanon government after Tuesday’s massive explosion that devastated the city in Beirut on Sunday.

ONE POLICEMAN KILLED IN THE CLASHES

Thousands of protesters marched through the destroyed areas of the city as demonstrators storm and occupy the foreign ministry, the environment ministry and the economy ministry.

Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets as protesters hurled stones and fireworks at security forces.

The Internal Security Force (ISF), Lebanon’s domestic police and security force, said in a statement that one of its members died in the protests Saturday.

The blast came at a time when Lebanon is mired in its worst economic and financial crisis in decades.
