Trump changes his bomb claims in Beirut explosion as acci

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that the Beirut explosion may have been an accident.

Trump said it is still unclear what happened, although Lebanese officials have blamed the massive eruption on a poorly secured stockpile of highly volatile fertilizer ingredient ammonium nitrate.

HE EARLIER SUGGESTED IT WAS AN ATTACK

When asked later about his depiction of the explosion, Trump said that he had met with some US generals who feel the blast was not “some kind of a manufacturing explosion type of event.”

He told reporters that according to these unnamed generals “they seem to think it was an attack. It was a bomb of some kind.”

Despite US President’s earlier claims, Defense Secretary Mark Esper has said that “most believe” that the explosion in Beirut “was an accident”.

Trump hedged his statement after claims blamed the nuclear bomb on Israel. Messages have mainly focused that this was an Israeli attack, either a bomb or a missile strike on a Hezbollah weapons depot.
