Borsa Istanbul sees decrease at new-week opening

Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,182.45 points on Monday, falling 0.69% or 8.18 points from the previous close.

At the last week’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was down 0.64% at 1,190.63 points, with a daily trading volume of some 20.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.0120 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.9640 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 9.4810 from 9.4200, while one British pound traded for 10.4590 Turkish liras, versus 10.4070 at Friday’s close.
