The equipment was handed over at a ceremony attended by Giyaseddin Karatepe, Libya coordinator for the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Zintan Mayor Mustafa al-Baruni and other top officials.

“Since 2012, we have contributed for sustainable development and social welfare in Libya, a friendly and sister country, with around 100 projects in areas such as education, health, development, vocational courses, and social assistance,” Karatepe said in a statement.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Zintan’s mayor hailed TIKA’s efforts to help people in Libya, a country ravaged by war for nearly a decade now.

He said the people receiving the wheelchairs and crutches were in need of the equipment, adding that such support is required throughout Libya as more and more people continue to suffer injuries in the raging conflict.
